About our opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Community Development Officer to join our dedicated team at Strathpine!   

Leading our work as a Welcoming City, you will develop and implement programs and initiatives that enhance the wellbeing and inclusion of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. This will be achieved through partnerships with community organisations, stakeholders and government agencies.

Our long-term Community Wellbeing Strategy 2042 prioritises inclusion and is tied to local social supports, community cohesion and the appreciation of diverse community identities. You will work with community and Council departments to improve the effectiveness and accessibility of services and assist in the development and implementation of policies.

As part of a busy Community Development team, you will work together to plan, promote and activate opportunities that strengthen the capability of communities to sustain community wellbeing and promote diversity. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to help deliver Council’s Welcoming Cities program.

About you

Do you have experience and/or understanding of people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds? If so, want to hear from you!

With a knowledge of community development principles, and highly developed people, relationship and interpersonal communication skills you will be able to support and strengthen community organisations.
