The Details:

  • Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight
  • $103,597 pa + 12% super (level 5)
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.
  • Location: Caboolture

Join City of Moreton Bay as a Senior Public Space Permit Officer and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

In this role, you will be managing and resolving complex issues related to the use of public land and roads. This includes identifying, developing and implementing processes because of key learnings.

You must be able to interpret and apply State Legislation and Local Laws to ensure Local Law Approvals are lawfully issued and appropriately conditioned.  

Additionally, you will:

  • Provide timely responses to escalated issues including written correspondence to key stakeholders such as the Mayor, Councillors and the CEO
  • Understand the varying functions of Council to provide a broad lens on applications and issues
  • Negotiate decisions on Local Law applications through stakeholder engagement
  • Provide expert advice to Senior Leaders on Local Law Approvals
  • Create, review and analyse reports to identify areas of improvements for the Local Law Approval Program
  • Review and revise the Local Law Approval Program on an annual basis

About you

We are seeking a highly developed communicator who can build strong working relationships with a range of people at all levels within Council as well as external stakeholders.

You will have a track record of investigating complex matters using risk-based decision making to promote outcomes that meet regulatory standards and customer focussed outcomes while also being able to think ‘out of the box’ to summarise complex issues and develop recommendations for a resolution.

You will also be able to demonstrate that you can interpret and apply relevant legislation (including Local Laws, State Legislation and Australian Standards) in the undertaking of the approval process, along with well-developed time management and communication skills, including verbal and written skills to allow the delivery of quality service outcomes.
